Welcome to the laboratory

This is not just the lab, however, it's also the living room and dining room during off hours.  We're still kind of working on moving more decoration in here, and not all of my tools and books are in place yet, either.  It'll look a little less sparse once we're properly loaded up.

This is where I assemble and monitor larger projects, such as this rare Arcadian Ironwood tree over here.  We've named the tree "Kensington" in honor of a friend of ours.  Mostly a friend of Fresia's, actually.  Behind the tree you'll see my wooden-top work bench, and on the opposite side of the room is my metal-top work bench.  I use these for woodworking-based and metalworking-based projects, respectively.  As I said, there isn't a whole lot to see up here yet due to the fact that the ship is so new.  It's only a matter of time before the whole thing is littered with papers and projects.  The window up there can be folded upward while we are in port, and projects can be removed with a crane, when needed.

This is the ship's main control.  The map on the left is a zonal map of Arcadia showing the states of conflict in various areas of the nation.  While we are cruising slowly, I need only to select our destination from this map and the ship will automatically chart a course in that direction.  The black screen on the right side of the wheel is the ship's computer.  I can access any function of the ship by running through touch-screen menus here, and I am told that the OS is backed up on at least three other fallback systems that will take over if this one ever fails... although I am also assured that failure is an unlikely case.  This computer is also accessible from the cargo bay, where I will take you near the end of the tour.

The ship's wheel is rarely used, actually.  During manual drive, that blue screen up there snaps to life and shows a panorama of the landscape right in front of the ship.

As for the red button by the steering wheel... well, just don't push it and we'll all be grateful.

If you stand up here by the wheel and look across the lab, you'll notice a large rocket hanging from the ceiling.  This rocket is an antique from one of Arcadia's past wars, but still entirely functional.  Please do not try and jump to it or hang from it, because I can tell you from experience that this is a very unwise thing to do!

Moving back to the other side of the lab again, this is the table where we ea--hey, that's strange...

...I don't remember installing this comically oversized pipe!  Something tells me I shouldn't lean in there too far.  I'll have to ask the builders about that later.

This gallery area charts many of Fresia and my past adventures.  Ah, the good times we've had!  This is my favorite place to relax and read a book in the evenings.  Sometimes, I'll pull the couch a little closer to the skylight so I can see the stars.

It doesn't look like anybody is in the bathroom at the moment, so now would be a good time to show it off.  Come on!

Next:  Check out the ship's bathroom.  >
